Vampire of Sacramento

Going mad

In 1975, at the age of 25, Richard Chase had his first serious hospitalisation. He was brought in for blood poisoning, after injecting rabbits blood directly into his veins.

While in hospital, Richard Chase complained that someone had stolen his pulmonary artery and he was convinced his stomach was flipped backwards, his head was mutilating in shape, and that his heart had  stopped beating at times.

Richard Chase was diagnosed with Schizophrenia and given medication.

This medication had little success and doctors decided that it was his heavy drug addiction instead, that caused all the paranoia.

Whether it was the drugs or a mental problem, his acts were beyond cruel and unimaginable. Richard Chase was on his way to becoming a murderer.

**Points:

-Hospitalised at the age of 25 for blood poisoning

    -Wrongly diagnosed with Schizophrenia
